Elite Scientific Editing

Our services

Assisting reviewers

One of our implicit objectives is to minimize the time and effort that is required to review your submitted manuscript. Reviewers are generally busy people whose work is voluntary. We believe that the text they are asked to evaluate should be clear enough for them to be able to focus entirely on the scientific content of your work, without having to struggle with the language or the logic used to describe it. A busy reviewer will appreciate high-quality writing.

Edited text: our suggestions, your choice

We edit your text in such a way that all changes are visible. We use coloured highlights to mark (i) your text that we think should be modified, and (ii) our suggested changes to improve it. You can thus see clearly what we have done, and decide whether or not to accept each suggested change. We believe that this transparent and interactive editing system will help you to gradually improve your scientific writing skills.

Clarity

We do not hesitate to query the content of your manuscript if we think something is unclear in any way - linguistically, logically, or scientifically. If something is unclear to us, it will probably also be unclear to a reviewer. By constructively anticipating reviewers' criticisms in this way, we believe that your manuscript will be more likely to be published quickly and to require fewer revisions.

Editing time

When we receive your manuscript, we will send you an estimated completion date for our work. We will normally try to return the edited manuscript to you within ten days of receipt. If you need your manuscript to be edited urgently, please tell us and we will try to comply with your request. If we need to charge more for rapid editing, we will ask for your agreement to a higher quotation before we proceed.

Pre-submission check

When you have revised your edited manuscript, we will be happy to provide a second review before you submit the final version to your selected journal. There is no additional charge for this service, unless there is a substantial amount (more than 500 words) of new text in the revised document. We strongly recommend this pre-submission check, which will normally be completed within 48 hours of receipt of your revised manuscript.

Our charges

We charge US $150 per 1,000 words of text, excluding references and front-page authorial information. When you send us your manuscript, we will give you a quotation for the work and then proceed to edit the manuscript after you have agreed to the quoted price. If you wish to pay in your local currency, our quotation will be in that currency, using exchange rates operating at the time of receipt of your manuscript.

Revisions and resubmissions

Rarely is a submitted manuscript accepted for publication without an editor asking for revisions to be made, based on reviewers' reports. We will edit your responses to requests for revision, and additional text in the revised manuscript, at the reduced charge of US $75 per 1,000 words. This charge also applies, for additional text, if your manuscript is rejected and you resubmit the same work to another journal.

What you should send us

We accept manuscript files in MS Word or PowerPoint format. You can upload your document on our job request page. We will inspect text files immediately upon receipt, and let you know if we have any problems viewing the text. Figures should be sent as PDF or PowerPoint files.
